At the project review board meeting held on 21st May, the following key dates announced during the previous review meeting were confirmed:
- Confirmed delivery date for Air Handling Unit – 2nd June
- Confirmed crane date / road closure – 19th June
- Commission of new plant – 23rd June – 10th July
Meanwhile, work is progressing as scheduled in the basement Plant Room to replace the pipework, and on the roof to decommission the old equipment and get the area ready to receive the new chillers and the Air Handling Unit which are due to be delivered on 19th June.
One variation compared to the initial plan has been the decision to draw the electric wiring that will power the roof-top machinery through the staircase of the middle block rather than on the outer façade of the building overlooking the courtyard. This avoids having an unsightly large loop of thick cables emerging from the base of the building and running all the way up to the roof level.
Continued progress of the hot and cold-water pipes and installation of pumps
Areas that have been stripped out in preparation of the new plant delivery
Removal of the metal walkway and removal of old plant ongoing in preparation for new chillers
Diamond drilling of the concrete landing to enable the electrical cable tray to be installed in the staircase
Roof plant room now fully cleared of plant in anticipation of the crane lift to remove the old plant from scaffold gantry.
Removal of the old leaking F and E tank now complete.
Installation of new security handrails to perimeter of roof.
Cable tray installation ongoing to the stair landings.
What comes next ?
Ongoing activities includes :
- Installation of flow and return pipework
- Installation of BMS control cables
- Installation of power feeds to the roof
- Stripping out and dismantling of plant
And during the month of June :
- Manufacture of new chiller base
- New pump set installation ongoing in the basement
- Continue BMS installation
- Notices for road closure to be displayed with 2 weeks notice.
The next Project Review Board will take place on 27th June.
